When I first started designing the set for this play I knew I wanted an adult target audience. I focused on the grotesque and I decided to give the story setting a twist by basing it on fast food restaurants and its waste. On this version Hansel and Gretel live in the trash containers of popular fast food chains. The forest is made by greasy and translucent burger wrappers. And the witch’s house is the kitchen of the restaurant. On this set the actors can climb and slide through the machines, and jump on the burgers and french-fries that are made out of foam.
