On the annual art direction course I took one of the assignments was to recreate a scene from the film Raging Bull by Martin Scorsese. After a thorough analysis of the film, we wanted to show two of the most important spaces for Ray LaMotta: the ring and the locker room. Portraying the duality between the fighter and the dejected. One of the challenges was designing the space, wardrobe and makeup with the black and white in mind, paying with hues in order to create depth. For the eye makeup a gelatin prosthesis was molded and applied.
